This training introduces first concepts and equipment related to vacuum technology in cyclotrons. There is a specific focus on the Cyclone® Kiube system. Some safety issues are highlighted. Proper use of vacuum grease is emphasized.
In this
training session, you will learn more about what vacuum is and especially on
molecular flow. Pumping concepts will then be introduced. In this part, it will
become clear for you that not only the gas originally present in the volume
must be pumped. In the third part, the operating principles of rotary vane
pumps and oil diffusion pumps will be explained while the fourth part will
describe the sensors operating principles. The Cyclone® Kiube vacuum subsystem
operation will then be presented in part five. And finally, an introduction to
leak detection will conclude this training module.
